Termicam is an Australian company, based in Melbourne , that has developed new technology to detect termites in houses and buildings. This technology is state of the art thermal imaging, which offers a fast, non-destructive and environmentally friendly method of successfully locating termite infestations in houses. This new technology is rapidly replacing traditional methods of termite detection.
The traditional method of detecting termites is to tap on wooden structures with the handle of a screwdriver and pull walls apart. This is unreliable, destructive and very intrusive. After years of research Termicam has developed a scientific answer to termite detection, using infrared technology. Termicam is rated as such a scientific breakthrough that it won the prestigious Australian Housing Industry Association Jim Sweeny Innovations Award in 2001.
